So Cool!

Well it is winter in wisconsin and that means lots and lots of snow and below 0 temps. So since I no longer go outside I have more time to read my favorite blogs and in doing so I found a "free" music player. So COOL! I have added it to my blog and am currently playing some of my favorite christmas songs. I will change the playlist after the holidays, although I love christmas music year round!

It's almost Christmas!

I'm not sure how, but Christmas is almost here. There were so many things I planned on accomplishing this year, but I blinked and time flew by.
The shopping is done, the decorations are up, the cookies have been baked, eaten and baked again and yet I feel like something is missing...I'm not ready for Christmas to be here in less than a week. And by the way the something missing is not the "white" Christmas, we got 10inches of snow today to go with the 5 from last week and some before that too. Yesterday I was looking back at photos from past Christmas'. I was a little sad, every year seems to go by quicker and quicker. I still love Christmas but the joys and excitement I experieced as a child are now being passed on to my (not such a baby anymore) baby and she is already growing up too fast! I love every minute of time as it goes by, but I'm afraid I won't remember all the sweet little moments later.
We are making plans with friends this year since we are not traveling and our families are not coming up either. I guess you could say we are doing some of our own family traditions to mix in with the ones handed down from our parents and grandparents.

Here's a few pictures past and present:

Pumpkin Carving Party

We love Halloween, dressing up in costumes, eating sweet treats and carving pumpkins! Last year we wanted to have a Halloween party that would not be scary for our then 18 month old daughter so we came up with a carving party. It was so much fun, we've decided to make a annual family event! We carve traditional jack-o-lantern faces, fancy thinned out designs, and add other fun accessories like googly eyes, paint and stickers.
Here's the invitations I made for this years celebration! They are a double slider card, just pull the pumpkins stem and out pops the invite info and a cute poem.
The poem reads:
We bought a fat orange pumpkin,
the plumpest sort they sell.
We neatly scooped the inside out,
and only left the shell.
We carved a funny face,
of silly shape and size,
a pointy nose, a jagged mouth,
and two enormouse eyes.
We set it on the porch,
and put a candle in,
then lit it up for all to see
our jack -o-lantern grin.

Happy Birthday To Me!

Yep, it's my birthday! I know some people don't like birthdays but I always have! It's not the gifts or attention or... it's just my special day. A day to mark where I've been and where I want to go, but most importantly a day to eat CAKE! and you know how much I love cake!

Growing up my best friend's birthday was today too. We aren't close any more but I still always think of her on our special day. Happy Birthday to you too!

Celebrating Fall

Fall is my favorite time of year! Why? I love the cooler nights, jackets and sweaters, brilliant fall foliage colors, pumpkins and mums, apples and berries, scarecrows and leaf piles, holidays like Halloween and Thanksgiving (my favorite), I could go on and on. Did I mention my birthday is in the fall too! In honor of fall beginning today, I gave my blog a fall makeover, and I will be getting out all my fall home decor too! Happy Fall, enjoy it!

Spinner Card

I made this for a friend's birthday, it should arrive soon, sorry if you see it here first! The little bee on the front spins back and forth across the card. I also entered it into the Scrap Happy weekly challenge, see my blog list for the link.

Sketch This #65 Challenge - Revised

I felt like something was off so I changed it a bit, added the 5 months and moved the flowers. which do you like better, or should I add or change something.
Layout I entered for this week's Sketch This. Check my blog list for the link.

Waterfall Card

Just pull the tab and the card flips to reveal a new pic. Again a technique I learned from Dawn on youtube. She is AWESOME!

Blowing Bubbles

LO I made. I used my cricut to cut plastic bubbles, first time I've cut anything besides paper, works great. Farm Grammie took this pic and was surprised how well it came out.

Double Slider Card

Double slider card I made following youtube directions. The cool part, it uses part of a plastic sack as the mechanism. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y7z8SD-k6i8

Getting Going

Wow, this is fun and a lot of work, I just spent an hour and half trying to figure out how to add a different background (FREE from http://www.thecutestblogontheblock.com/) for my blog. It was just a wording glich in the directions. Oh well, it is done now! Off to create somethings to display.

Pocket Card

Here's my take on a pocket card. It was fun and really easy just follow the tutorial on youtube.

50 States Flowers LO

Here's a layout of my DD. I just got the Cricut Design Studio and this was my first "welding" creation. Did I mention I am in love with my bug (Cricut) and now the DS too. I can't wait to explore all of its hidden abilities. I used Tear Drop for the font and some flowers from 50 States.

New to this

Trying to get my blog all set up. It's my first time, but I visit many other creative blogs everyday. Bear with me as I get it figured out.
